Simi Garewal in Chalte Chalte (1976) |
She starts the movie in this knitted short sleeve top paired with a lovely waist cinching belt and an eye popping statement necklace with white flared pants, I truly loved this look on her
A truly fab look, I love it!!! |
Next up was Simi in a lovely embellished chiffon Pink sari with complimenting pink accessories and a neat bobbed hair do in the now Iconic 'Chalte chalte' song
Next up was Simi in a floral Sari, one very similar to what Zeenat wore in Ajnabee, the only difference here is in the colour and Simi's blouse is sleeveless
Forget the Hermès Kelly handbag disguising as Bagwati in the 2011 film Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, that white handbag in the right hand corner of the picture above is hindi cinema's bagwati, I've spotted it so many times in numerous hindi films from the 60's and 70's |
Love the art direction going on in all the pictures above, that sofa as well as the wall designs and lamp shades |
and below is a comparison of both ladies in the sari's, Who wore it best in your opinion
The rest of her fashion choices in the rest of the movie after the scene with the blue sari was rather uninspiring, first up was this lacy night gown which she wore in the 'door door tum rahe' song

Next up was a sari with a rather interesting aztec patterns on the border
And that rounds up the styling of Chalte Chalte, while I was impressed with some of Simi's style here, the rest left me uninspired, but i guess a lot of that has to do with the manic transition her character 'Gita' goes through in the movie, which you can read over on my other blog here
The movie credits Bhanu Athaiya, Mani Rabadi and Stylo with the Costumes, Vasant for the make up Jeet Khurana with Ashalata for Hair Styles and G.S. Bhosle for the wardrobe
