Sadhana in Arzoo(1965)

Here comes the big one, and I can predict this post will be a very popular one on here due to all the Sadhana and 60's bollywood style searches that bring people to this blog. Sadhana was without doubt one of hindi cinema's most stylish heroines, her wardrobe in Arzoo was fantastic which pretty much reaffirms her reputation as one of Hindi cinema's finest dressers. What I found impressive about the styling was the variety of textures, layering and the wonderful accessories

One of my favourite Sadhana fashion moments occurred in this film when she paired this amazing fairisle knit (very stylish even today) with ski pants, that jumper is to die for, i love it

Loving the studded diamanté sunglasses teamed with a cosy jumper and fur hat and gloves, Aspen chic at its best

Next up on my favourites lists is this embroidered floral sari teamed with lovely Ruby accessories

Love the clean and rather minimal style of this Coral chiffon sari, Sadhana is really a doll

Lovely embroidery designs on this sari with a sleeveless blouse, Sadhana in general seemed to favour the sleeveless blouse style sari's 

I love how editorial these shots look, I love the cardigan teamed with the Churidar Kameez outfit  with the bouffant hairstyle and side plait and the wing tipped eyeliner and peachy lips

In a rather interesting ensemble to reflect the cold weather of the Kashmir, by layering a knitted top with cotton  sleeveless kurta and churidar

The rest of the movie features a layering of traditional outfits over top quality statement coats, I loved them all, especially the last one above, love the binoculars hanging off her neck too  

 In fact the whole feel and styling of this movie by the great costumier Bhanu Athaiya is an editorial waiting to happen, I hope fashion magazines in India will start making editorials based on bollywood movies, especially ones like this.

Rajendra Kumar in Arzoo (1965)

I have always had a soft spot for Rajendra Kumar and of late I've realised when it comes to style, he was definitely one of Hindi movies most stylish heroes. Here in Arzoo, his style varies from lovely knitted Jumpers to well tailored suits and coats and statement sunglasses, from now on I have to pay more attention to his style particularly his style in the 60's.


A huge part of the movie is set in Kashmir which has a much cooler climate than other parts of India this allowed for plenty of layering, which explains the amount of Jackets and knitwear

Loved his total look here from the smart bomber jacket to the red polo top and those wayfarers, fab! Rajendra, fab!

Next up was this lovely Alpine/Fairisle style knit teamed with a snazzy pair of wayfarers

I love this close up shot of him, he looks great and I really really really want those sunglasses

Loved his 60's style suit with skinny lapels which i prefer over the wide style style of the 70's

Loved that overcoat on him, in fact the general style of layering in this movie was fantastic

In yet another overcoat, love the stripy tie and the way its been knotted half Windsor style

Feroz Khan in Arzoo (1965)

Feroz Khan didn't have as much screen presence as i would have liked in this film, he played a supporting role, but he looked quite stylish in the few scenes I screen capped of him, I 'm sure he had more outfits but I was so distracted by Sadhana and Rajendra Kumar's outfits which I shall be sharing on here later, below are the looks from Feroz i loved in the movie

I loved him in this skinny suit with narrow lapels paired with a white shirt and pastel yellow skinny tie

That's a lovely cut leather Jacket

I love the strong shoulders on that stylish leather Jacket
